Consulting is one of the most rewarding professions in India. However, lack of guidance and information is a major hurdle for most aspiring consultants trying to break into the Consulting Industry.
Conceptualized by Mohit Kant, Consulting Network is a knowledge and networking portal for consultants. The basic idea behind Consulting Network is to provide an open platform for both aspiring and practicing consultants to interact and share knowledge.
Consulting Network combines the concept of knowledge sharing with professional networking and hence provides a truly unique platform for both aspiring and practicing consultants.
On the knowledge front, Consulting Network is provides valuable pointers to aspiring consultants who are trying to break into the competitive consulting industry. Further, Get Mentored, a unique initiative by Consulting Network provides a platform where aspiring consultants can seek guidance from HR professionals and practicing consultants. Consulting Network also features a series of thought leadership articles by both young consultants and consulting industry veterans.
On the Networking Front, Consulting Network has developed a networking platform for its members (http://consultingnetwork.co.in/members). Using this platform, members can interact with each other through various popular social and professional networking tools like forums, groups, blogs, chat etc. Consulting Network also has a job portal, where recruiters can post consulting jobs free of cost.
How did the Idea of Consulting Network come about?
Breaking into Consulting can be quite a task for even seasoned MBA’s; Consulting Network was initially launched by Mohit Kant as a group on Linkedin, a popular professional networking site, to leverage networking opportunities in the consulting industry. As the group grew, the need for more functionality and interactivity became apparent. This led to the launch of Consulting Network as the definitive platform where relevant content could be shared all in one place.
As the idea picked up momentum, the Consulting Network team grew and Mohit managed to get Narayan Mantri and Rohit Jain, both of them veterans from the consulting industry on board as mentors. While, Mr. Mantri continue to be on board with us as a mentor, In June 2010, Mr Jain dissociated himself from Consulting Network owing to a new demanding role with one of the leading companies in India. Consulting Network team is thankful to Mr Jain for his contributions to our network.
Mohit also roped in Pranav Tekchand and Sulbha Rai on board as part of the core working group for Consulting Network. While Pranav directs the technical functions of the group, Sulbha heads the Mentoring and Jobs division. Other members on the team include Revant Bhate, Sameer Kakkar and Paul Joseph. Mohit oversees the management of the group.
Being a non profit initiative, each of the team members contribute to Consulting Network during their time off work.
Other than the Consulting Network team, a team of authors, comprising of Industry veterans, who contribute to Consulting Network in their free time, play a pivotal role in growing the knowledge content on the website.
What have we achieved so far?
Since its inception Consulting Network has managed to attract over 1500 registered members. Further, the number of readers and subscribers to Consulting Network continues to grow rapidly. Consulting Network, which was initially focused on the Indian Consulting Scene, is now venturing out to develop itself into a more global network for Consultants.

- Partnering with XIMB for their Consulting and Strategy Summit
Our Future Plans?
Consulting Network is planning to launch a series of info sessions and networking meet-ups to spread awareness about the Consulting profession in India. Further, there are also plans to expand the Consulting Network team.
