FTrust Department Head - Bangalore - India

Reports to: Managing Director (MD) plus Global Head of Trust Services (GHT) and Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Reporting Staff: Trust Dept. personnel
Working Environment: Is located in Bangalore, India, working as part of an integrated network of global offices with multicultural team members and clients, but could be traveling from time to time for training, operational and support purposes.
Main Contact Base: Outside the direct reporting line(s), the role requires contact with other Group employees, Business Feeders and individual clients from time to time.
Overall Objectives:
• Establish and head up trust department of Company
• Assist with the establishment of trusts and administration of trusts that are domiciled with Organisation (including non Indian law trusts).
• Provide trust technical expertise to Company employees who work for the trust department or do trust accounting.
• Assist with the marketing of trust products in India and elsewhere.
• Assist with drafting/checking of trust deeds and other trust documents.
• Review of Company Group trusts on a regular basis to ensure compliance with trust terms and conditions plus statutory rules.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Establish the Trust Department in Bangalore and recruit staff for same.
• Manage the Department and report to MD, CEO and GHT.
• Assist with recruiting trust staff for Company and elsewhere in TD.
• Organize drafting of Trust Deeds and other trust documents for Trust Division (TD) and also Company as requred.
• Prepare and/or commission new document precedents that may be required by Trust Department or TD personnel.
• Review trust related documents prepared by other staff of Company and also TD personnel.
• Provide technical advice to employees, other Group employees, individual clients and feeders concerning trust matters and trust products.
• Assist with preparation of TD accounts including financial accounts for underlying entities as well as trusts.
• Draft memos concerning trust issues and trust products for marketing and training purposes.
• Prepare articles on trust issues and products for internet and print publication.
• Assist with marketing of trusts in India and other regions of the world.
• Training staff and other employees in trust law and various trust products.
• Assist with development of new trust products and marketing of same, from time to time.
• Become familiar with international tax issues that affect trusts and the use of trusts by clients in target markets.
• Undertake such other duties that may, from time to time, be agreed with the MD, the GHT or the CEO to accomplish specific projects or purposes.
Qualifications and Required Skills:
• Must be a qualified Common Law lawyer with previous trust experience.
• At least 9 years of post qualification experience in a preferably trust related field and/or in the financial services sector, (preferably with international exposure).
• Previous management or supervisory experience preferred
• Excellent English language and communication skills.
• A second language would be a plus.
• Should be deadline focused and commercial.
• Should be client service focused too.
• Willing to learn and also able to learn fast.
• Right attitude, flexible and must be willing to travel.
• Plus able to do whatever necessary and whenever to get the job done.
• Willing to make the commitment that it will take to succeed in the position.
• Should be a team player but able to function without close supervision.
• Computer literate
