The area: Business and Operations Strategy.
The Business and Operations Strategy team thinks strategically and globally about entire industries and helps Google define operational initiatives that contribute to the company’s growth. Our team of highly creative visionaries thrives in deconstructing and re-creating businesses to meet changing strategic and operational needs, enable innovation, establish more efficient practices and help the company continue to achieve its vast potential. Our work includes such projects as developing and implementing next-generation advertising products, defining strategies to optimize operations, and establishing initiatives in emerging markets. We measure our effectiveness by monitoring the concrete impact we have on revenue, cost and operational efficiency.
The role: Business and Operations Strategy Associate.
As an Associate in Business and Operations Strategy, you’re at the forefront in helping to define the company. Working on small group projects commissioned by Google’s executive management group, you own your workstream(s) and are the ultimate data expert. You immerse yourself in information and draw insight from the weeds. You persuasively communicate your recommendations to senior-level executives and drive implementation, executing on your responsibilities while project managing contributions of individuals throughout the company. Sample projects include: building the strategic framework to guide Google’s future investment strategy, identifying opportunities for growth in new channels and markets, and helping Google become greener.
Responsibilities: – Structure complex, ambiguous, and potentially charged business issues for Google’s executive team. – Gather and analyze massive amounts of information expeditiously. – Develop compelling, insightful recommendations. – Build consensus among cross-functional teams and influence decision making within senior-level audiences. – Lead execution against recommendations quickly and with flawless accuracy.
Requirements: – BA/BS degree preferred with strong academic record. – At least 2 years of post-graduate level experience at a leading management consulting firm, Fortune 500 corporate strategy organization, or top-tier investment bank (technology focus preferred). – Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills and impeccable business judgment; professional distinction in thought leadership and innovation. – Solid communication and interpersonal skills; ability to be personable yet persistent. – Superior modeling and presentation skills.
